I don’t know.
What hurts the most for me is not hearing “No.” but hearing “I don’t know.” At least with No, their mind is made up, and they know what they want. But with “I don’t know”.. They don’t know if they love you enough to keep going, they don’t know if they want this anymore, and most of all, they don’t know if they want you anymore. The simple act of not being sure of anything, the simplicity of indecisiveness can drive a person mad with anxiousness and hurt.
Person A: I need to know, I want to know.. Do you even love me anymore?
Person B: I don’t know.
